COVID UPDATES

Rahway Food for Friends was reformed and incorporated in September of 2012 as a NJ Nonprofit Corporation.  We are solely funded by the public and community donations. We operate solely on a volunteer basis and no salaries are allotted at this time.  

With the declining economy and an increase in the number of people who are now in need due to foreclosure, homelessness or unemployment which causes its own challenges. The number of our patrons has risen and continues to rise daily and our revenue declines as many sponsors have not been able to donate as they have downsized. We need to keep our doors open. We are renting two locations:   Our headquarters and Food Pantry are located in the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 1221 New Brunswick Avenue, Rahway, NJ 07065 of which we are a part of their outreach programs. Our Soup kitchen is located in the First Presbyterian Church, 1731 Church St., Rahway, NJ 07065 in which we are a part of their outreach programs.    We feed at our Soup kitchen about 80 families every Saturday of the month. Also, at our Food Pantry Distribution we feed an average of 200 families in the Rahway area with one weeks groceries, prepared in brown bags.  We accommodate all emergency situations and are now in dire need of funding.  During Hurricane Sandy we assisted over 100 families with Emergency Food packages along with the C.E.R.T. team of First Presbyterian Church.

Each Holiday Rahway Food For Friends, prepares a feast with all the trimmings for Thanksgiving as well as Christmas.  The patrons take photos with Santa, share stories and songs, and receive gifts.  We give gifts to the young and the old.  All are welcome to our programs and there is a registration form that must be completed upon entering. 

We are asking that you assist us in any form within your means to keep our program going.  We are a 501(c)(3) organizations and your donations are tax deductible.    Your donations  will help to keep this program operating and functioning to fulfill the mission. 

We are asking for donations in the form of monetary contributions, clothing, non perishable food items, toiletries, baby products,miscellaneous personal items (ie; soap, toothbrushes, etc).
